This image was captured in mid-January on the trail to China Beach near Sooke, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada not far from Victoria. China Beach is one of many oceanside areas preserved for public access along the stretch of Route 14 beginning at Sooke to Jordan River and beyond to Port Renfrew. The view is of the path leading down to the ocean through old growth and rain forest with some trees as old as 300 or more years. Morning sun lights a stretch of fog in the background. This image has been digitally enhanced.

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
