Love that this pic is in b/w. The topography and the clouds are so accentuated in the blacks, greys, and whites. Great contrast!

Artist's Description

This southward view of the Chelan Butte Wildlife Area and beyond was captured in May of 2015 on a simply lovely day. The area sits very high above Lake Chelan and the Columbia River. A long steep and narrow drive up to great heights affords a fantastic nearly 360 degree view of the cascades to the northwest and south, and the Columbia River to the southeast.

About Allan Van Gasbeck

Allan Van Gasbeck

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
