Artist's Description

This low tide monotone perspective image was taken on Frank Island off Chesterman Beach near Tofino, British Columbia, on the west coast of Vancouver Island in April 2016. The long view show the rocky coast of the island and Meares Island off in the distance. The view is to the north on this stellar day. The black and white processing brings out the myriad of tones in the sea rocks.

About Allan Van Gasbeck

Allan Van Gasbeck

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
