Artist's Description
This image was captured in late November 2022 at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. There are a number of herons in the park with near perfect conditions at Lost Lagoon to keep these herons well fed and entertained. Surrounded on three sides by ocean, Stanley Park is about a thousand acres, much of it undeveloped, and home to numerous bird and animal species.

About Allan Van Gasbeck
I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
