Artist's Description

This photograph was captured in January 2022 at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre while snowshoeing. The area is adjacent to Silver Star Mountain Ski Area. There were patches of fog throughout the trail system, sometimes thick. The intervening snow covered lake helps to isolate the small copse of trees from the forest.

Featured in the FAA group Intent of the Artist. February 2023.

About Allan Van Gasbeck

Allan Van Gasbeck

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
