There is beauty in the starkness of those trees; how nature bent them over the years. Beautiful nature image! l/f/tweet

I am so amazed by this image. Brittle remnants of a tree struggling to survive and luckily though barely attached to soil moist form the lake. Depth and distance is well represented here as well. Your photographs really tell a story.

Artist's Description

This image was captured along the shores of Upper Waterton Lake near Waterton Townsite, Waterton National Park, June 2015. Shore pines cling to life in this normally high wind area as prevailing weather whips through the valley from the south. This area is adjacent to Waterton Townsite Campground.

About Allan Van Gasbeck

Allan Van Gasbeck

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
