Serene scenes like this send off strong messages. First of all, something had been constructed there but many years ago now. It tells of the passing of time, of decay and remembrance. It also tells swimmers of the possibility of something that could be lurking below the surface, which triggers caution about getting into that water without a mask and snorkel to avoid getting caught on something beneath the surface. Incredible what this gorgeous stillness inspires. f/l/p/t/G+

About Allan Van Gasbeck

Allan Van Gasbeck

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
