This black and white image was captured on Schooner Cove near the Long Beach section of Pacific Rim National Park in April 2018. The tide is beginning to flood the nearly level beach and soon will reach all corners of the cove. This beautiful park is located on the wild west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The beach and trails extend for miles. The cove can only be visited at low tide and hikers must be wary of the incoming tide blocking their retreat. It is quiet and secluded generally speaking, but well worth the hike.

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
