Description

This is a Venice Italy photograph of sunset behind Isola San Giorgio Maggiore across the water from San Marco and near the mouth of the Grand Canal. The boat is a vaporetto, the main trainsportation on canals and across the lagoons. The image was captured in January of 2016. San Giorgio Maggiore was a former monastery established in 982. In the early 19th century, the island became a port and harbor.
