Artist's Description
This black and white image was captured in November 2018 in West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The location is the Gellatly Nut Farm, a 4 hectare working nut farm with over 800 trees of many varieties including walnut, chestnut, hazelnut and many others. Autumn color was accentuated here using filters to brighten the leaves while the long encroaching shadows add interest.

About Allan Van Gasbeck
I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
