Artist's Description

This image was captured in February 2020 in Cathedral Grove Provincial Park near Parksville, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The forest here is dense with very large trees and basically impassible with fallen timbers and undergrowth so one is advised to stay on the boardwalk. This frame shows the various layers of trees and the ubiquitous spanish moss being highlighted by a ray of sun.

About Allan Van Gasbeck

Allan Van Gasbeck

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
