This view of the Chelan Butte Wildlife Area in Washington State shows thinly vegetated hills at an exceptional altitude, high enough to be in the clouds on a given day. The image was captured in May of 2015 on a simply lovely day. The area sits very high above Lake Chelan and the Columbia River. A long steep and narrow drive up to great heights affords a fantastic nearly 360 degree view of the cascades to the northwest and south, and the Columbia River to the southeast.

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...

This one stood out & waved at me as soon as I opened the page, Allan; wonderful image here! I love the Shadow, on the left side of the hill particularly, adds a mysterious depth there.. & the tiny trees atop shows us the grand scale of the hills;))
