Beautiful Allan. You have captured so many shades of this beautiful light and place. I love walking on that beach:)

Another fabulous sky! What a day that must have been! I love the design made on the sand when the tide went out! It seems like an opportune time to explore the shores with the pines, and not have to worry about slipping down the hill and falling into the water below! What a different experience it is to walk on the bottom of the sea when the tide is out!

Artist's Description

This black and white image was taken on the Frank Island sandspit off Chesterman Beach near Tofino, British Columbia, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. It was low tide around noon in April 2016. The view is to the northwest with the last remnant of the outgoing tide making a trail across the sandspit.

About Allan Van Gasbeck

Allan Van Gasbeck

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...
