This image was taken in early November 2014 in the hills and orchards east of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The Okanagan valley is one of the largest fruit producing areas in the country. At this time of the season, most of the fruit has either been picked, fallen off, or left to wilt on the stem. The apple and cherry trees lose their leaves over a several week period at different stages. Some apple trees hang on to their leaves well past the initial frost days. Some leaves are heavy, and some are very thin allowing the low late fall sun to illuminate and backlight them.

Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
