This abandoned house in Cloughjordan, County Tipperary, Ireland was the ancestral home of the Cochlan family for several generations. There were 2 fireplaces, one for each side of the house, and a total of 4 large rooms which housed a large extended family during troubled times. The place has seen better days and happier times. The image has been digitally enhanced.

I was born and raised in New England and met my Canadian wife of nearly 50 years now while traveling in Europe in '73. I have mostly lived in Canada since. I have been interested in photography since 1970 and had taken multitudes of pictures in the "film" age. After a time away from photography, I jumped in again in the early years of the "digital" age. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2007. Since, I spent a couple of years as a part time professional photographer, though I am moving away from working to return to my roots in outdoor photography as a life interest. I enjoy taking landscape, moving water, and nature images - and any other passing fancy moment that deserves to last. I love quiet wild spaces...

Wonderful image. Abandoned homes really interest me--I wish I could hear the stories that are held within the walls.

There is something that an image captures of decay that has a beauty about it. Love this shot!
