Description
This image was captured in mid-January 2021 in Parksville on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The angle of view is from Rathtrevor Beach low tide flats to the south, with Mistaken Island on the horizon. This depiction of geese in flight (a skein) shows Black Brandt geese in low level flight. In January, February, March, and April this section of the east coast of Vancouver Island is a major stopover on their migration northward to the arctic tundra. I used a high key/pastel treatment for the image processing.
